What does B-Corp Certified mean?
First and foremost, the B in B-Corp stands for “Benefit.” To be a certified B-Corp, a company must prove they are making a positive impact by meeting strict standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. These include things like how we hire and treat employees, how we contribute to the community, and how we care for our animals and land. Once a company proves its eligibility, the seal acts like a stamp of approval that people can look to as proof that a business they support is doing good in the world.
It took our team over a year to go through the approval process, which included thorough documentation, many interviews, and site visits. We also had to ensure that all our Grazing Partners met the requirements since they are an integral part of our business.

Why B-Corp Certification matters to The Honest Bison:
We started The Honest Bison as a way to try to bring change and transparency back to the meat industry and make better meat more accessible to more people. We know our customers have many options when it comes to buying meat, so when you choose to support us, we want you to know unequivocally that you can trust us, our process, and our meats. Aside from inviting every single customer to visit our operations, having a third-party B-Corp Certification (along with all our other certifications) is one way we can demonstrate that.
Purpose Beyond Profits |
We're not just in this for the money. We are committed to making a difference in every way — from how we treat our employees and partners to how we care for our animals, support the regeneration of our land and planet, and support local communities. B-Corp certification helps us define our standards and progress toward goals in a transparent way. |
Accountability |
B-Corp certification is not a one-and-done deal. We have to consistently live up to the high standards that have been set — and continuously prove our compliance in order to maintain our certification. This keeps us accountable to ourselves and to you. You can always trust that we are doing what we say we are doing. |
Transparency |
We have always been an open, transparent company, but now that we are a B-Corp, it's required. Here is a link to our full B-Corp listing. True Trustworthiness |
Supporting a B-Corp means you can trust the way their goods were made or services delivered — and not just because they say it on the website but because it’s backed by rigorous proof. In our case, it means you can trust that our partners and employees are treated equitably, that our animals are treated humanely, grazed naturally, and raised on regenerative lands, and that our practices are sustainable from the ranch to your door. Are we perfect? Of course not, but we are always striving to be better, and we are transparent about our process. And that’s hard to find these days. |
