Welcome to the fourth and final week of the September Whole30! You’re almost over the finish line and you have a LOT to be proud of, but before you bust out that celebratory bottle of vino (yes, alcohol is back on the menu!), here are four important things you should do after the month is officially over.
Evaluate Your Successes
Tally up your Whole30 wins. It’s human nature to focus on the things we didn’t accomplish, but instead, focus on what you did achieve over the past 30 days. Was your goal to lose 20 pounds, but you only lost 10? That’s still 10 pounds! Do you still need a cup of coffee to get going in the morning, but no longer need to add sugar? Huge win! Is your office desk drawer now stocked with healthy snacks like mixed nuts instead of candy bars? Cha-ching! Don’t sell yourself short. Chances are, you accomplished quite a bit in the last month. So celebrate those wins. You earned them!
The Reintroduction Period
The reintroduction portion of the Whole30 is critical. During this 10-day period, you will slowly and systematically reintroduce the food groups you eliminated during your Whole30 (i.e. legumes, dairy, gluten-free grains, and gluten grains). By paying close attention to how you feel when you eat these foods, you’ll gain a better understanding of which foods are “worth it” or “not worth it” moving forward. Here is a sample schedule of the reintroduction protocol from Whole30. Don’t miss something as much as you thought you would? Don’t bother reintroducing it!
Share Your Story
Remember all of those inspiring Whole30 testimonials that kept you motivated throughout your own journey? Well, now it’s time to share yours! Take your before & after photos and share your story on the Whole30 Forum, Facebook and Instagram. You never know who you’ll inspire!
Life After Whole30
Eventually life will return to normal but remember, it’s up to you how much of the Whole30 you take with you. You now have all the tools and knowledge you need to make the choices about food that make you feel your best. Check out this “Whole30 Guide to Off-roading It” to help you decide which foods are worth it or not worth it. And check out these life after Whole30 stories from others who have walked this path before you!
Not ready to leave your Whole30 bubble just yet? If you experienced benefits from the Whole30, but think more time would help give you that extra nudge you need, keep doing what you’re doing! And if you ever need a Whole30 reset, you can always come back!
