Get Grill Ready for the Summer.

As the weather heats up, it’s time to fire up the grill and start enjoying the great outdoors once again. But before you host your first cookout of the season, make sure both you and your grill are prepared! So we’ve put together a list of handy tips to help you get grill ready for an epic season of outdoor cooking.

1. Inspect and clean your grill.

Before you start grilling, it’s important to give your grill or smoker a thorough inspection and cleaning. Check for any damage, such as rust or cracks, and replace any worn-out parts if needed. Then, use a grill brush or scraper to remove any debris or grease buildup from the grates. Not only will this help your food cook more evenly, but it will also prevent any unwanted flavors from contaminating your delicious meat.

2. Check your fuel source.

Whether you’re using charcoal, propane, gas, or another fuel source, it’s important to make sure you have enough on hand before you start grilling. Check your supply and make sure you have enough fuel to last through your planned grilling session. And if you’re using propane, check your tank for any leaks or damage, and replace it if necessary. Be sure to dispose of the empty propane tank appropriately, most cities regulate how these can be disposed of.  Safety first!

3. Invest in quality grilling tools.

A great meal starts with the right tools, and that’s especially true when it comes to grilling. Aside from your grill or BBQ, make sure you have a high-quality set of tongs, a meat thermometer (we recommend a wireless meat thermometer like MEATER), flipper, some sharp knives, a grill scraper, and other essential tools to ensure that your food is cooked to perfection. And don’t forget to clean your grill after every use to avoid any mishaps or accidents.

4. Experiment with different cooking methods.

While grilling is the classic summer cooking method, don’t be afraid to mix things up and try different cooking methods. Smoking, flame broiling, sous vide, and even slow-cooking are all great ways to cook bison meat that can add a unique flavor and texture to your dishes. Or try experimenting with new marinades, different cuts of meat, or trying a new species entirely. There’s no shortage of ways to spice up your grill.
