Welcome to week #3 of your September Whole30! You’re more than halfway there and the toughest days are behind you. Last week we went over some of the common feelings and side effects you may have experienced during the first two weeks and today’s post continues with week 3 and 4 of the Whole30 timeline.
Whole30 Timeline Part 2: Days 16-31
Day 16-27: The Best Days Ever! The Whole30 program refers to days 16-27 as the “Tiger Blood” stage. Rawr! Most people tend to have more energy, fewer cravings, their clothes fit better and they feel stronger. Other changes also include fewer mood swings, clearer skin, changes in body composition and an ability to focus better. Remember that everyone is different and these changes may not happen all at once or exactly on day 15. Continue to keep at it and look for small, gradual improvements.
Day 21: Are We Done Yet? It’s day 21 and you’re loving the way you feel but the tediousness of the challenge is starting to get to you. Somewhere during the third week, serious food boredom settles in and most people start to struggle. Remind yourself why you’re doing this in the first place and get inspired with some new recipes from Instagram, Pinterest, or other Whole30 approved brands.
Day 28: SO CLOSE! Do NOT give in this close to the finish line. The last few days are 100% mental. It’s tempting to let a treat or two sneak in because really, what’s the big deal? The challenge is practically over. Except it’s not. You made a commitment to do this for 30 days and you’ve still got 2 to go. So don’t let yourself down now.
Days 29-30: What Am I Going to Eat Now? For the past month you’ve followed the Whole30 Program rules religiously and it’s totally worked! You feel better and look great. But now what? You don’t want to live your life this rigidly but you also don’t want to go back to your old ways. Don’t panic! This program is intended to be a reset for your body. It allows your body to heal and get used to eating real, whole foods again so that you can make conscious choices moving forward.
Days 31: You Did It! Congratulations! You completed your September Whole30. Now what? It is strongly recommended to complete the Whole30 Reintroduction protocol, where you systematically reintroduce the foods you eliminated from your diet and see how your body reacts to them. You might find that a food you couldn’t live without before just doesn’t do it for you anymore. Or actually causes a reaction in your body that you simply never noticed because of all the built-up inflammation. This slow reintroduction will help you make the right choices for your body and lifestyle.
